200 km — 32 off-road
Through the Tizi NTichka at an altitude of 2,260 meters, we will enjoy breathtaking panorama views and explore the mountains of the high atlas. With a minor detour, we will pass through a fantastic Kasbah showing the true and untouched nature of Morocco. Kasbah Telouet was once the Kasbah of the Glaoui Pasha and is an incredible view. Continuing visiting Kasbahs, we will stop at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou where inhabitants still live within these walls and well as in surrounding berbere villages. Our next stop for the day will be at the ‘Hollywood’ of Morocco: Ouarzazate where we will spend the night in a very typical Kasbah.
160 — 22 Km off-road
After spending the night in Ouarzazate and after breakfast at your hotel we will continue our tour towards Zagora we will start seeing oises and palm groves all across the road in a desertic flat land. We will first be crossing the Draa Valley between Agdez and Zagora, the longest palm grove in Northern Africa after we will arrive to Zagora a city considered as the desert gate as it poster says “Timbuktu 52 days”.
150 Km — 54 Km off-road
We will depart in the morning towards Tamegroute and devote a visit of its Zaouia, ancient Koranic library, visit of the pottery artisans and the underground kasbah. We will continue our southern trip towards the Oasis of Tagounite by Ait Isfoul. We stop for lunch in Mhamid. Then we will take the track towards the dunes of Chegaga and experience a camel ride in the dunes. We will enjoy a night of traditional Moroccan music and dance near the fire.
300 Km — 120 off-road
In this day we will wake up early to appreciate the sunrise over the dunes and have breakfast in a very calm environment. On the way we will pass by Iriki; in a lake that carries water in several periods of the year, is bordered by cords of dunes and is considered an absolutely fantastic landscape. We get by then to Foum Zguit old military posts (Lunch on site) continue to Taznakht, which is an important center of carpets weaving. We continue to the direction of the city of Ouarzazate also known as the Hollywood Moroccan.
200 Km
Before returning to Marrakech, we will spend some time visiting what is known as the ‘Hollywood’ of Morocco. With this, we are going to visit two important locations, all of which popular movies have been filmed.
The first stop will be at Kasbah Taourirt, once controlled by the Pasha and his wives. In this incredible castle was shot ” Rules of Engagement ” ‘. Although most of the films have already stopped shooting here, you can still enjoy beautiful ceilings with their original art works. If you are a movie buff, the next place will definitely be your favorite … Atlas Film Studios will give you the opportunity to see sets of previous films, casting selections and who knows; maybe you can meet Brad Pitt shooting a new movie. After lunch in the High Atlas mountains and we head to Marrakech and end of the route.
