Ouarzazate - Taznakht - Foum zguit - Iriki - Chegaga
In this day we will drive crossing Taznakht, which is an important center of carpets weaving. We get by then to Foum Zguit old military posts (Lunch on site). On the way we will pass by Iriki; in a lake that carries water in several periods of the year, is bordered by cords of dunes and is considered an absolutely fantastic landscape. We will take the track towards the dunes of Chegaga and experience a camel ride in the dunes. We will enjoy a night of traditional Moroccan music and dance near the fire.
Cheguagua - Mhamid – Tamgroute Library – Zagora
After admiring the sunrise in the beautiful dunes of Chegaga we will depart in the morning towards Mhamid later we enjoy Tamegroute and devote a visit of its Zaouia, ancient Koranic library, visit of the pottery artisans and the underground kasbah. We will continue our southern trip towards the Oasis of Tagounite by Ait Isfoul. We will arrive to Zagora a city considered as the desert gate as it poster says “Timbuktu 52 days”.
Zagora – Draa Valley – Tansikht – Nkob - Tazarine - Alnif - Rissani - Merzouga
After breakfast we will leave Zagora in the direction of Tazarine. On the way we will go through desertic flat land and some Berber villages and we visit also the engravings cave of Aït Ouazik. We continue towards Tazarine known for its Henna festival. The next stop will be Alnif best known for its dates and fossil stones (lunch on the site). In the afternoon we will drive toward to Rissani the first imperial city of Morocco, as well as the capital of the ancient Sultan Alaoui. After a couple of kilometers we will reach the dunes of Erg Chebbi. We will spend the 1st night in the hotel.
Merzouga - Khamlia - Merzouga
After breakfast in the hotel we will make a tour of the desert dunes ( rally Paris –Dakar path) where you will have the opportunity to see the amazing changing contrasts of the of the desert. We will visit the ‘black village’ of Khamlia to see the Gnawa musicians before having a traditional Berber pizza for lunch in the same village. After lunch you can visit the traditional markets and/or drink coffee at one of the many cafes while watching the day to day life of the city.
Merzouga - Erfoud - Touroug - Tinjdad - Tinghir – Todra gorges
You will get up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes. Then you will ride back to the hotel in camels where you can shower and have breakfast. Then we return to Rissani to visit a traditional market, the largest in southern Morocco. We continue towards Erfoud where we will visit a fossilized marble factory. Continuing the road we will cross several Berber villages like Touroug and Tinjdad until we reach Tinghir, the place where the Todra Gorges are, there we make a back marching in the river of the gorges between the mountains.
Tinghir - Boumalne – Dades gorges- Boutaghrar- Rose valley - Kelaa Mgouna - Skoura – Ouarzazate
After breakfast, departure through Boumalne there begins the Dades valley, we will drive alongside the valley to the Dades gorges, where we make a visit marching. We return again with the same road to the kasbah of Ait Youl where we take the road without asphalt near the Atlas head to Boutaghrar where we will see the nomads who live in caves. By doing this, we are going to combine between the nomads of the desert and the nomads of the Atlas. After lunch in a traditional restaurant in the village of Boutaghrar before going to see the rose valley in Kelaat Mgouna where we will have the opportunity to explore the house of roses whose petals are used as perfumes, lotions and oils. Then we continue to the kasbah of Amerdhyle in the Oasis of Skoura. We will arrive in Ouarzazate at the end of the day.
