South Morocco Tours - 8 days Morocco tours, Waterfalls and Desert Tour

Day 1:Marrakech – Ouzoud Waterfalls - Ben Mellal

On this remarkable day, we embark on an unforgettable journey to behold one of Morocco’s most splendid natural wonders: the Cascades of Ouzoud. Nestled in a verdant valley approximately 150 kilometers from Marrakech, these cascades are a sight to behold, surrounded by quaint Berber villages and crowned by three magnificent tiered waterfalls, each plunging 110 meters into the river below. Our adventure begins with a trek along the meandering river, leading us to the enchanting caves and gorges of Oued el-Abid. Here, we have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the pristine beauty of nature, whether by swimming in the refreshing waters or strolling along the network of paths that wind their way to the basins below the cascades. For lunch, we are treated to a culinary feast at one of the delightful restaurants in d’Ouzoud, nestled amidst the fragrant lime-tree groves. Here, we indulge in the flavors of Morocco, savoring traditional tajines and local delicacies, accompanied by the sweet nectar of freshly squeezed orange juice. After lunch, our journey continues as we marvel at the immense beauty of Lake Ben El Ouidane, nestled within the breathtaking panorama of the High Atlas Mountains. Continuing our exploration, we ascend to the picturesque town of Afourer, perched atop the Atlas Mountains, where we pause to admire the imposing landscape of the Middle Atlas. Our final destination for the day is Beni-Mellal, a charming town nestled amidst orchards of orange, olive, fig, pomegranate, apricot, and peach trees. Here, against the backdrop of this lush landscape, we enjoy a leisurely dinner at our hotel, reflecting on the awe-inspiring sights and experiences of the day.

Day 2:Ben Mellal – Tizi IFAR- Imilchil

Our journey continues from the enchanting town of Beni Mellal to the picturesque village of Imilchil, nestled in the heart of the Middle Atlas Mountains. As we traverse the rugged terrain, we pass through El Had, Ben Cherro, and Naour, ascending the mountain passes of Tizi Ifar and Tizi Isly, before descending to the serene haven of Imilchil. Imilchil is a place of profound beauty and cultural significance, renowned for its two shimmering lakes, Tislit (the bride) and Isli (the groom). Legend has it that these lakes were formed from the tears shed by two star-crossed lovers, members of rival tribes whose union was forbidden. Imilchil itself embodies the essence of Berber culture, with its intimate village setting and traditional way of life. Our arrival coincides with a momentous occasion—the Imilchil Wedding Festival—an annual celebration held in September that draws tribes from the surrounding regions, including Aït Sokham and Aït Bouguemmaz. Known as the “September Romance,” this festival showcases the unique Aït Yaazza culture, featuring a collective marriage ceremony where women have the autonomy to choose their own husbands. Tonight, we rest in the warmth of an inn nestled within the heart of Imilchil, surrounded by the majestic beauty of the Middle Atlas Mountains. As we reflect on the day’s journey and immerse ourselves in the rich tapestry of Berber traditions, we are reminded of the enduring spirit of love and unity that binds communities together in this remote corner of Morocco.

    Day 3:Imilchil - Todra Gorges

Following a satisfying breakfast, we embark on a leisurely stroll to behold the beauty of Tislit Lake, a tranquil oasis nestled amidst the rugged landscape of Imilchil. Here, surrounded by the serene waters and majestic mountains, we find solace in nature’s embrace. Our journey continues as we set forth towards Todra Gorge, traversing the captivating Ait Hdidou Valley. This region is steeped in tradition and authenticity, characterized by its distinctive clothing, quaint Berber villages, and time-honored way of life. As we wind our way through this picturesque landscape, we are immersed in the rich cultural tapestry of Morocco. Todra Gorge awaits us, a natural wonder revered by international rock climbers for its imposing 300-meter vertical fault and crystalline glacial river that meanders through its depths. This magnificent canyon, adorned with hues of pink, narrows to a mere 10 meters at its most slender point, sculpted over millennia by the forces of glacial activity. Amidst the breathtaking scenery, we may catch glimpses of nomadic tribespeople tending to their daily routines, their donkeys laden with water containers as they navigate the rugged terrain. As we pause to take in the awe-inspiring beauty of Todra Gorge, we are reminded of the resilience and harmony that characterizes life in this remote corner of Morocco.

Day 4:Dades Gorge - Todra Gorge - Merzouga

In the rugged expanse of Todra Gorge, nature reveals its majestic splendor, reminiscent of the iconic Grand Canyon, adorned with towering walls of pink-grey rock that seem to shift hues with the passage of time. Here, amidst this awe-inspiring landscape, we are captivated by the raw beauty of Morocco’s natural wonders. Our journey continues to Erfoud, renowned as the City of Fossils, where we delve into the fascinating process of transforming ancient relics into exquisite works of art. At a local cooperative, we witness artisans skillfully crafting fossils into stunning furniture, home décor pieces, and intricately designed personal items such as bracelets, key chains, and necklaces. Immersed in this world of craftsmanship, we gain insight into the rich geological heritage of the region and the artistry of its people. Venturing further into the Sahara Desert, we embark on a thrilling camel trek through the undulating dunes, guided by the rhythmic sway of these magnificent creatures. As we traverse the golden sands, bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun, we are enveloped in a sense of timeless wonder and tranquility. As evening descends upon the desert, we gather under the vast expanse of the starry sky, serenaded by the melodies of local music and the mesmerizing rhythms of traditional dance. Amidst this ethereal ambiance, we savor a delicious dinner beneath the celestial canopy, before retiring to our tents for a night of peaceful slumber, surrounded by the whispering sands of the Sahara.

    Day 5:Merzouga - Khamlia - Merzouga

As the first light graces the horizon, we eagerly rise to witness the breathtaking spectacle of the Sahara sunrise, a moment of unparalleled beauty that paints the desert landscape with hues of gold and amber. After immersing ourselves in this mesmerizing display, we return to our hotel to indulge in a hearty breakfast and refresh ourselves with a rejuvenating shower. Our day unfolds with a captivating tour of the desert dunes, tracing the legendary path of the Paris-Dakar rally, where every crest and dip reveals the ever-shifting contrasts of the desert terrain. As we navigate through this vast expanse, we are captivated by the ethereal beauty that surrounds us, a landscape of endless dunes sculpted by the hand of time. Continuing our journey, we venture to the enchanting ‘black village’ of Khamlia, a haven of cultural richness where the rhythmic beats of Gnawa music resonate through the air. Here, we immerse ourselves in the soulful melodies of traditional music, experiencing the vibrant tapestry of Moroccan culture. For lunch, we indulge in the flavors of the region with a traditional Berber pizza, savoring each bite amidst the rustic charm of the village. After our culinary delight, we have the option to explore the bustling traditional markets, where vibrant colors and lively exchanges evoke the vibrant pulse of daily life in the city. Alternatively, we can unwind at one of the quaint cafes, sipping on aromatic coffee as we observe the rhythmic cadence of the bustling streets.

Grazie ancora!

Amazingly enjoyable trip through Morocco Wonderful trip organised for us which afforded us understanding & views of Moroccan landscapes, country, culture and people. Excellent accommodations chosen in amazing Rhiads for us. Excellent restaurants for all meals were organised for us. Excellent cultural stops and shopping opportunities. Excellent guides very knowledgable, local and with good English. Driver Moha was excellent driver & kept us on time and enjoying everything at the same time. Superb custom trip in an incredibly interesting country. The only thing at all negative was the first night’s accommodation in Casablanca (very late arrival through incredible traffic after our flight, no dinner available, apparently nowhere to purchase bottled water except from the waiter, and room was very noisy on main roads with hotel staff unhelpful. ) Would recommend this company and their tour planning. Had an amazing trip. Loved it.
