South Morocco Tours

Day 1:Marrakech - Kasbah Telouet - Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate

200 km — 32 off-road

Through the Tizi NTichka at an altitude of 2,260 meters, we will enjoy breathtaking panorama views and explore the mountains of the high atlas. With a minor detour, we will pass through a fantastic Kasbah showing the true and untouched nature of Morocco. Kasbah Telouet was once the Kasbah of the Glaoui Pasha and is an incredible view. Continuing visiting Kasbahs, we will stop at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou where inhabitants still live within these walls and well as in surrounding berbere villages. Our next stop for the day will be at the ‘Hollywood’ of Morocco: Ouarzazate where we will spend the night in a very typical Kasbah.

Day 2:Ouarzazate - Skoura –Rose valley - Dades Valley - Dades Gorges - Boumalne - Todra Gorges

270 Km — 50 Km off-road

After breakfast we go to the road of mille kasbah with a stop in skoura to visit the kasbah of Amredhyle, then in Kelaat Mgouna we will visit the house of roses whose petals are used for perfumes, lotions and oils. Then we will go to Boutaghrar where we will find the nomads who live in caves. We continue along the off-road until the kasbah of Ait Youl, we will go with the valley to the gorges of Dades, where we make a visit marching. We return again with the same road to Boumalne and drive to the Todra Gorges where we will spend the night.

Day 3:Todra Gorges - Tinjdad - Touroug - Erfoud - Merzouga.

160 Km — 35 off-road

After breakfast, we will make a march to discover the Todra valley until reaching the gorges that are 300m high. We continue to get to the town of Tinjdad to visit Ksar el Khorbat, this ancient Ksar is a fortified village of raw land, Built in the mid-nineteenth century and recently restored thanks to international cooperation. Half of the houses in El Khorbat are still inhabited. Others have been rehabilitated with different functions, such as accommodation for travelers, a museum and a women’s craft workshop. Some 50 km before arriving at Merzouga, we will arrive at the fossil capital of Morocco: Erfoud. Here we will have the opportunity to see the fossilization process and you will be able to buy some beautiful memories for your family back home (Lunch at the site) We will resume our trip to the desert of the Sahara de Merzouga through the town of Rissani origin of the Alaouita dynasty and the first imperial city of Morocco. There we will visit the local market that was a caravan shopping center.
After about 30 km we will arrive at the dunes of Erg Chebbi, leaving on a caravan trip of one hour on dromedaries, we will stop to enjoy a magical sunset in the dunes of the desert, before heading to our stores.

Day 4:Merzouga - Taous - Oasis Ouzina - Oasis Ramlia - Mharech Gorges

185 Km off-road

You will get up early to watch the sunrise showed beautifully over the dunes. Then you will return in to the hotel where you can shower and have breakfast. First stop will be in the village of Khamlia, a village of people originating from Mali who earn their living through local crafts, their best gift is the Gnaoua music concert they perform. We will take our Paris-Pakar off-road crossing abandoned Berber villages in the middle of nowhere. We will see rivers of sand, dry lakes, huge mountains and oases.
We will also see the life of the nomads we will know the desert of Morocco. We will continue our off-road leading to Ramlia our town where our parents lived before, we will visit it and have a Berber tea and then we will visit the oasis there with a local guide. Lunch the site. In the afternoon we will cross a river with lots of sand until we reach the Mharech oasis where our accommodation is located.

Day 5:Mharech Oasis - Tafraoute - Foum Jrane - Tazarine - Nkob – Draa valley - Zagora

170 Km off-road

After a night of silence and peace we will continue our Paris Dakar. Our first stop will be the village of Tafraoute, a village of the Berbers called Ait Khabach, who speak the Amazigh language. We are crossing a line of Berber villages such as Foum Jrann and Tazarine that has the largest Henna festival in Morocco. Until we reach Zagora through the sublime Draa Valley of palm tree and rivers. This impressive unit will show you the true architecture and culture of the south and in which it differs enormously with the more urbanized north. Zagora our destination of the day is a place in another part of the Sahara desert and will give you the opportunity to see how people live with the natural resources that surround them.

Day 6:Zagora - Tamegroute Library - Mhamid - Erg Chegaga Desert

155 Km dont 65 off-road

We will depart in the morning towards Tamegroute and devote a visit of its Zaouia, ancient Koranic library, visit of the pottery artisans and the underground kasbah. We will continue our southern trip towards the Oasis of Tagounite by Ait Isfoul. We stop for lunch in Mhamid. Then we will take the track towards the dunes of Chegaga and experience a camel ride in the dunes. We will enjoy a night of traditional Moroccan music and dance near the fire.

Day 7:Chegaga - Foum Zguit - Taznakht - Ouarzazate

270 Km — 90 Km off-road

In this day we will wake up early to appreciate the sunrise over the dunes and have breakfast in a very calm environment. On the way we will pass by Iriki; in a lake that carries water in several periods of the year, is bordered by cords of dunes and is considered an absolutely fantastic landscape. We get by then to Foum Zguit old military posts (Lunch on site) continue to Taznakht, which is an important center of carpets weaving. We continue to the direction of the city of Ouarzazate also known as the Hollywood Moroccan.

Day 8:Ouarzazate - Kasbah Taourirt – Cinema studios – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

200 Km

Before returning to Marrakech, we will spend some time visiting what is known as the ‘Hollywood’ of Morocco. With this, we are going to visit two important locations, all of which popular movies have been filmed.
The first stop will be at Kasbah Taourirt, once controlled by the Pasha and his wives. In this incredible castle was shot ” Rules of Engagement ” ‘. Although most of the films have already stopped shooting here, you can still enjoy beautiful ceilings with their original art works. If you are a movie buff, the next place will definitely be your favorite … Atlas Film Studios will give you the opportunity to see sets of previous films, casting selections and who knows; maybe you can meet Brad Pitt shooting a new movie. After lunch in the High Atlas mountains and we head to Marrakech and end of the route.

Favoloso Fantastica avventura di 8 giorno da Meknes a Marrakech passando per Fez, deserto e Atlas. Great excursion, great guide! We went on a 5-day excursion with Marrakech Expedition, from Marrakech to the desert near Merzouga and back. Everything was very well planned, we were taken to the main sites and places, all the hotels they booked for us were excellent. Our guide, Mohammed was really great, an expert driver and a great guy to talk to, we really enjoyed the time we spent travelling with him. Highly recommended!

Great! We travelled with our two little kids, 3 and 6, on a 8 day trip through Morocco using the driver service of Marrakesh Expeditions. Omar, our driver, was excellent! Amazingly enjoyable trip through Morocco Wonderful trip organised for us which afforded us understanding & views of Moroccan landscapes, country, culture and people. Excellent accommodations chosen in amazing Rhiads for us. Excellent restaurants for all meals were organised for us. Excellent cultural stops and shopping opportunities. Excellent guides very knowledgable, local and with good English. Driver Moha was excellent driver & kept us on time and enjoying everything at the same time. Superb custom trip in an incredibly interesting country. The only thing at all negative was the first night’s accommodation in Casablanca (very late arrival through incredible traffic after our flight, no dinner available, apparently nowhere to purchase bottled water except from the waiter, and room was very noisy on main roads with hotel staff unhelpful. ) Would recommend this company and their tour planning. Had an amazing trip. Loved it.
