Day 1:Marrakech – Tizi-N-Tichka – Ouarzazate – Drâa Valley – M’hamid – Erg Lihoudi Dunes
Your expedition begins at 8:00 am from your Marrakech hotel, heading toward the majestic landscapes of the Moroccan south. You will ascend the High Atlas Mountains via the stunning Tizi-N-Tichka pass (2,260 m) before descending toward Ouarzazate, famously known as the "gateway to the desert." After a traditional lunch in the gateway village of Agdez, the journey continues along the historic caravan trails of the Drâa Valley. By late afternoon, you’ll reach M’hamid, the final outpost before the vast Sahara. From here, a 4x4 trek leads to the Erg Lihoudi dunes, where your Saharan bivouac is prepared. Enjoy a sunset camel ride, a traditional feast, and a night under the stars in a comfortable desert tent.
NB: Fed by the Ouarzazate and Dadès wadis, the Drâa Valley sustains vast, lush palm groves. Its fortified pisé (rammed earth) villages serve as living monuments to a millennium of preserved Moroccan history.

Day 2: Erg Lihoudi Dunes – Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou – Ounila Valley – Telouet – Marrakech
Wake up to a breathtaking desert sunrise followed by breakfast at the camp and a peaceful morning stroll through the dunes. Leaving the Sahara behind, you will travel back through the Drâa Valley to visit the iconic Aït Ben Haddou kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a masterpiece of southern Moroccan earthen architecture. Following lunch at the site, the route winds through the Ounila Valley to the Telouet kasbah. Once the opulent seat of the Pacha Glaoui, this fortress offers a glimpse into the era of the great desert lords. The journey concludes with a final crossing of the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, arriving back in Marrakech by evening.
NB: The Kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou is a cinematic legend, having provided the backdrop for masterpieces like Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones. It remains an indispensable highlight of any southern Moroccan itinerary.
